With new iPod games few and far between, any new release is greeted by whoops of joy round these parts. Even when it's a conversion of a mobile game we've been playing for ages.

Such is the case with Brain Challenge, Gameloft's mobile brain trainer which has just gone on sale for iPods, too.

It offers 20 mini-games to test your wits, spread across five categories: Visual, Memory, Logic, Math and Focus. You can also play the Brain Daily Test mode, which serves up five random three-minute mini-games.

As you'd expect from a brain trainer, you can track your stats with all manner of colourful charts and graphs, as well as choosing a personal coach to whip your grey cells into shape. There's even a Creative mode which promises to "explore your brain's artistic abilities". We fear our results may prove less than impressive.

You can buy Brain Challenge on Apple's iTunes Store, and it's available for fifth-generation iPods, new iPod nanos, and the iPod classic. Here in the UK, it'll set you back £3.99.
