John Woo's new game is ink wash iOS shooter Bloodstroke
Woo indeed
John Woo is no stranger to video games, having collaborated with Midway Chicago and Tiger Hill Entertainment on slow-mo console shooter Stranglehold.
Now, the filmmaker and dove lover is taking another stab at game dev.
Enter Bloodstroke, from Verticus maker Moonshark and prolific iOS publisher Chillingo.
This top-down actioner contains swish sumi-e visuals, and the battles are sandwiched by painterly comic book panels (penned by Woo himself, apparently).
You'll play as private security agent Mai Lee - codenamed Lotus, obviously - as she shoots and slices her way through Hong Kong and Beijing to protect her client Dr Koorse.
You'll have a handful of blades and firearms from which to choose, and you'll be able to upgrade Koorse's gear to keep him safe. If you're sick of saving him, you'll be able to let off steam in an arena mode.
Bloodstroke will be heading to iOS in the next few months, according to Dan the Chillingo PR man.
I wonder if you'll be able to target and shoot your enemies in the scrotum in this one, like in Stranglehold. Probably not.
