Animal Crossing: New Horizons has its hooks in me. Deep, too. I wake up in the morning, and I need to see my new villagers, new layout changes, how my plans are slowly taking shape, which fruit have grown, how many bells are on my daily money tree, all of it. I'm in too deep, and I can't crawl out now.

But that's fine, because damn, I love this game, and it's even got me doing something I've never actually bothered with in Animal Crossing games before: flower breeding.

Breeding flowers basically leads you down the road to finding rare insects, making loads of money, and achieving a five-star town rating, no matter what it takes. Your Nook's Cranny shop will sell you some flower seeds to start, but other islands will have different seeds in stock. Visit loads of friends and strangers to get every flower variety, just like your fruit collection.

All you need to do to breed flowers is plant them close to one another, and make sure to water them. If it's raining, that'll do instead. Upgrade from a flimsy watering can to water six spaces at once, speeding up the process.

We've gone over every kind of flower and their rare varieties below. Though, we have not listed the methods to attain the basic flower colours because, well, you can just go buy some seeds, dude.

Before we move on, here's a key to what colours we'll be talking about - making this key is just easier than typing it all out, okay? Special shoutout to PG staffer Cameron Bald who helped my colorblind ass with all of these colours.

Key:

  • Blue = BLU
  • Black = BLA
  • Orange = ORA
  • Red = RED
  • Yellow = YEL
  • Purple = PUR
  • Pink = PIN
  • White = WHI
  • Red hybrid - RHY
  • Orange hybrid - OHY

Now that that's out of the way, read our list below to find out how to breed every flower variety in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. And a special thank you goes out to eugeneration on reddit.
