Black Desert Online is actually one of the biggest MMOs in the world, though I wouldn't blame you if you weren't aware. Despite having a huge footprint on the gaming industry, you might not know much about the huge MMO. Well, this is a good place to start for that.
Black Desert has been around for a while as Black Desert Online, but now we are finally looking at the launch of Black Desert Mobile coming up, and there's more reason for everyone with a mobile device to pay attention.
I'm sure everyone knows what they love and hates about MMOs already, but this is one of the more impressive and interesting MMOs to hit our mobile devices in a long time. As much as we like games like AxE: Alliance VS Empire, Black Desert Mobile just might end up being the best and most interesting MMO available on mobile for a number of reasons.

You find yourself in a fantasy world filled with imps, elves, orcs, monsters, and of course the usual blend of spiritual types. The Republic of Calpheon and the Kingdom of Valencia are at war, and you are in the middle of the two, just trying to survive in the fantasy world.
You'll be able to create your own character, which will, of course, wake up on a beach, meet a spiritual dark shadow, and then set out on a grand adventure all while equipping more and more weapons and armour.
Yeah, it's a pretty standard MMO in a lot of ways, but a decently high-quality one and Black Desert Mobile features a massive land to explore and even a whole bunch off voice acting for NPCs, really fleshing out the world and making it feel more believable.

Action combat
The game has action combat, which can absolutely be difficult to find in a proper MMO. Of course, this means you should play as a melee warrior, hell yeah.
You will be whacking out attacks and using your spells and skills, many of which have cooldowns, because this is still an MMO, after all.
But you can also dodge with a roll, which means the outcome of battle can be on your skills more than your stats, which is a wonderful thing to see in an MMO.

Huge world
Yes of course, like any good MMO there is a massive world for you to discover. Although you'll be running around in the beginning, once you get a horse mount (fairly early on) you'll be able to explore everything.
And it's nice that most enemies don't immediately aggro, meaning you can wander through the land on a sightseeing tour and not have to flee in terror.
There's loads of places to visit, NPCs to chat with, and enemies to fight, and if you wander the world freely you'll discover so many of them.

The most in-depth character creator
The Black Desert Mobile team are clearly big fans of this feature - at least that's what our man Cameron Bald tells me - for you can spend an absurdly long amount of time simply creating your character.
Which is great, although when I made a character earlier today I couldn't for the life of me find out how to change gender. Which seems like a big thing.
No, I'm sure being able to change gender is an option, I just can't find it… Maybe focus on UI design rather than an excess of options next time.
