Hearthstone expansion Curse of Naxxramas launches July 22nd
First segment free during launch event
Hearthstone's first expansion, Curse of Naxxramas, finally has a release date. The single-player campaign, with five separate wings and an unlockable Heroic Mode for each, will launch July 22nd.
The total cost of the expansion is either £17.49 $24.99, or 2,800 in-game gold. During the month-long launch event, players can access the first wing, called the Arachnid Quarter, for free.
The other wings will unlock each week, giving players the opportunity to grind for gold before the next segment launches. The release order is as follows:
- The Arachnid Quarter (July 22)
- The Plague Quarter (July 29)
- The Military Quarter (August 5)
- The Construct Quarter (August 12)
- Frostwyrm Lair (August 19)
After the launch event comes to an end, the Arachnid Quarter will cost £4.99 / $6.99, or 700 gold.
Players who only want to purchase a couple wings at a time can do so through the available bundle packages, or pay up the 700 in-game gold for each wing.
All five wings - £17.49 / $24.99
Four wings - £13.99 / $19.99
Three wings - £10.49 / $14.99
Two wings - £6.99 / $9.99
As detailed in our previous post on Curse of Naxxramas, the unlockable Heroic Mode at the end of each wing gives players the chance to battle more difficult versions of bosses they've already defeated, with victories unlocking new cards.
The base game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, is a free download on iOS. If you haven't picked it up yet, start building up your deck for the expansion, coming July 22nd!
