Dungelot 2 disappears from App Store following bug and free-to-play fumbles
Pay 69p to resurrect Dungelot 2?
Roguelike sequel Dungelot 2 has been tugged from the App Store, while developer RedWinter Software works on an update to squish the game's many bugs and tweak its in-app purchases.
On Facebook, the developer wrote "I've removed Dungelot 2 from sale at this moment. We admit fail and will relaunch with new update. We will also add complementary bonus with update".
RedWinter's Dmitry Mitrofanov told Pocket Tactics that the game was removed because its App Store ratings were in the toilet, and it suffered from "tons of bugs".
Money can't buy me loveBut over on the Touch Arcade forum, he also admitted that the in-app purchases were "a fail both for players and us, developers", and said "many bad decisions came from idea of free-to-play".
The update should make the game more generous, and RedWinter discusses the possibility of giving out more runes and mana in the game, and making stat boosts and artifacts last forever.
For what it's worth, we did mention that "it does feel like you're being pushed towards spending more and more cash as events unfold" in our review, but added that "we resisted the urge during our review and found the game was just as enjoyable".
Mitrofanov tells Tactics that the game will be resurrected in a week or two. An Android edition is planned for the near future, too.
