You're probably still trying to catch your breath after having shuffled through all of the PlayStation Vita game announcements this week, but there's no time for rest.

From the creator of Magicka comes a new top-down shooter called Helldivers. It's designed for single player excursions, and up to 4-player co-op blasting sessions.

Set in a satiricial future dystopia, your mission as one of the titular elite force is take out three alien species.

The battles are procedurally generated, and every victory and defeat plays into the overarching campaign shared by all players.

Ideally, you'll be blasting your way through in co-op, perhaps even using the cross-play feature to find players to join with across PS4, PS Vita, and PS3, locally and online.

As with Magicka, a big part of the co-op is friendly fire, and the over-powered weapons make it easy to accidentally fry a mate. Careful planning and teamwork is required, then.

Unless you're up for a laugh, then feel free to blow each other out of the sky.

If you're looking for some co-op mayhem, then Helldivers will hopefully deliver just that for PS Vita, PS4, and PS3 in 2014. We'll let you know.
