Based on today's Nintendo Direct press event, you'd never know that Nintendo was a company that only recently embraced the digital download game distribution model.

Nintendo announced that several new titles will come to the eShop this year - in addition to digital versions of recent retail hits - including three new games from Level 5.

Kicking off this torrent of new titles is Hana Samurai: Art of the Sword, an action fighting game that places players in control of a young samurai out to save Princess Cherry Blossom.

This title was released earlier in 2012 as Sakura Samurai, but never quite made its way to Europe.

Hana Samurai challenges players to anticipate and dodge enemy attacks before countering. Simply swinging a sword with hope and no agenda will end in a messy and quick demise in the game's story, survival, and attack modes.

Hana Samurai will come to the European eShop on October 11th.

Next up is Hydroventure: Spin Cycle. This mercurial physics-puzzler takes place in a wizard's library and begins when said wizard tries to bring pictures in to life using Rainbow Spirits.

All does not go according to plan, however, and the villainous 'goop' traps the Rainbow Spirits in the wizard's book, and it's up to the player to rescue them.

This rescue attempt takes the form of flowing water, and players will need to rotate their 3DS in a variety of directions in order to ensure the flow of water will wash over the trapped Rainbow Spirits.

If Hydroventure: Spin Cycle reminds players that the 3DS's gyroscope can be used for games, then The "DENPA" Men: They Came By Wave will help them remember that the 3DS's camera can be used for them as well.

This Pikmin-like title tasks players with capturing invisible Denpa Men using the augmented reality feature of the 3DS's camera.

What makes Denpa Men interesting is that a real world location may not yield the same Denpa Men to two players who visit at the same time.

Thus, pairing up with a 3DS-owning friend and setting out for an afternoon of adventuring will result in a larger catch of captured Denpa Men, which the players can then share with one another.
