In its move to make games for all audiences, all over the world, Gameloft has signed a strategic licensing deal with Hasbro.

The two brands covered are My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop, with games due to be released before the end of 2012.

Or as Gameloft puts it, it's planning "digital play experiences across a myriad of tablet, smartphone and platforms".

The Littlest Pet Shop game will also be released on Java for feature phones.

Stealing a march

"Creating highly inventive and accessible digital play experiences based on our world-class brands continues to be at the core of Hasbro's mission and we envision Gameloft to be a key player in the ongoing execution of that global strategy," said Mark Blecher, its SVP of digital media and marketing.

"Hasbro's position as a leading branded play company makes this a very strong alliance for Gameloft," added Gonzague de Vallois, Gameloft's SVP of publishing.

Significantly, Gameloft's rival EA also has a longterm deal in place with Hasbro for PC, online, console and mobile, but it's limited its games based on these particular brands to Nintendo DS.
