What's that coming over the hill?

Online creature adoption phenomenon Moshi Monsters is heading to mobile social platform GREE later this year.

Thanks to a new partnership between GREE - best known in the west as the owner of social gaming network OpenFeint - and Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy, kids will be soon able to cultivate their own weird and wonderful beasties in an ecosystem of over 230 million mobile users.

If that seems like a big number (it is), then it's worth pointing out that the game already has a 60-million-strong community of virtual pet owners.

It's this group of dedicated young fans who helped keep Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo at the top of the Nintendo DS charts for a record-breaking 15 weeks.

GREE and Mind Candy will celebrate their union by unleashing two new Moshi Monsters games onto the GREE social platform during Q4 2012 (October - December).

Since GREE hasn't officially launched in the west yet, we wonder whether Mind Candy's insanely popular property could be the game that finally brings the network overseas. We shall find out later this year.
