Xperia phones getting Gingerbread 2.3.4 update in October
3D camera function included
The Xperia Play will be getting an upgrade to its Gingerbread Android operating system in October, along with all the other handsets in Sony Ericsson’s Xperia range.
The upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4 will include an improved version of Facebook inside Xperia, which will let users share things with friends more quickly, and 3D camera software for the phone’s 5-megapixel camera. This 3D camera functionality will allow you to take a wide panoramic shot, which you can display later on a 3D-capable Sony TV by hooking your phone up.
For models with a front-facing camera, there’ll also be the ability to use video chat on Gtalk, while all models will be getting a screen capture mode (probably more useful to us at Pocket Gamer than anyone else). The phones to be updated include the Play, Arc, Neo, Ray, Pro, Mini, and Mini Pro.
