Nokia has promised more affordable Windows Phone 7 handsets in the very near future.

Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop is eager to allay fears of new Windows Phone 7 devices being too expensive to fill the Symbian-shaped gap in the market.

In a recent press meeting with Finnish journalists, Elop said that new Windows phones could hit “a very low price point”, and that “we have become convinced that we can do that very quickly”.

Becoming more flexible about minimum specifications, and using chipsets other than Qualcomm's, will likely be key to success in this area.
