Samsung Galaxy S2 hinted at for MWC 2011

‘Evolution’ set to occur in February

Samsung looks set to announce a successor to its enormously popular Galaxy S Android handset on 13th February.

Head on over to the Samsung Unpacked website and you’ll see the multi-million-selling Android device (which is so good, they based the Nexus S on it) positioned next to a cryptically glowing device.

The words “Evolution is fate” are scrawled over it, while “Barcelona 13.02.11” points to a Mobile World Congress unveiling (although the 13th is the day before the show officially opens).

Little else is known about the device, other than to expect a dual-core processor to run the thing. Given that the Galaxy S was at the top of the Android game for so long (indeed, until the first dual-core Android device shows up in shops, it still is) this is pretty essential.

Of course, this teaser could simply be for a new version of the Galaxy S, or some other Samsung device. Given the close association with the original handset, though, a proper follow-up is looking like a good bet.

The website also promises a ‘Preview teaser’ on 1st February, so tune in then for more information nearer the time.
