Sharp to take 3D smartphones into US, China and India

Sharp has announced that its autostereoscopic 3D screen – set to be employed in a range of smartphones – will no longer be limited to the Japanese market, with roll outs also planned in the US, China and India.

Though details regarding exact models are currently unknown, it's believed the first phones to use the screen – the Android-powered Galapagos 003SH and 005SH – will remain exclusive to Japan.

Overseas ambitions?

Additional models targeted at overseas markets will therefore employ the new technology, with Sharp having raised the 3D flag by handling the implementation of Nintendo's glasses-less 3DS screen.

There's no word on whether Sharp is planning a move on European markets following on from its US and Asian ambitions, although the Japanese firm has shown signs that it intends to spread its wings of late.

Sharp is reportedly considering launching its Galapagos e-reading tablets outside of Japan, the US and China again being lined up for their international debut.
