Another iPhone 4G prototype found in the wild
Does this count as a soft launch?
It looks like Apple’s secure information lockdown on all things iPhone 4G has once again been torn open, and this time without the help of a German themed bar.
Vietnamese site Taoviet (via Endgadget) has managed to get its hands on what looks to be an updated version of the prototype 4G smartphone that Gizmodo famously blogged and got raided about.
The only noticeable differences between the models seems to be the lack of lower screws, suggesting it could be a production model.
Also, unlike Gizmodo’s model that had a mysterious ‘XXXX’ on the back, this new iPhone has the size of the hard drive stamped for all to see, showing that the new iPhone will at least come in a 16GB model.
For all to seePictures and the stripdown posted on the site seem to confirm that the model is genuine, with an official-looking Apple processor with N90, the rumoured codename for the 4G, stickered on the side.
Taoviet is hoping this is the case, as a translation performed by an Engadget commentator suggests it paid $4,000 to get their hands on the device.
We also hope they've put enough aside for a new front door.
