Apple removes 'Rate on Delete' in OS 4.0
|

If there's one thing iPhone developers hate more than long approval processes, having their apps buried deep in the bowels of iTunes and global warming, it's the 'Rate on Delete' menu.

We've all seen it – scrap that rubbish app from your homescreen and a menu pops up asking for a one to five star rating.

The conceit was presumably to get users leaving more ratings, but developers just saw it send their ratings downwards. The system was skewed towards people unhappy with the app because if you're absolutely loving a game and don't want to take it off your device, you've got to wade into the App Store to have your opinion heard.

The pop-up menu was introduced in the 2.2 operating system, but will be banished from your iPhone or iPod touch in OS 4.0, when it launches this summer.
