More big devs jump on the Minis train

Square Enix to bring iPhone tower defence game Crystal Defenders to PSP Minis?

It was a big day for the iPhone when celebrated Japanese developer Square Enix jumped on board the App Store with it's unique and glossy RPG take on the tower defence game in Crystal Defenders.

Now the gaming giant has announced that it'll be bringing the game to the PSP, which is quite a turn of events - a game designed around touchscreen controls being adapted to physical buttons. It's usually the other way around.

Still, it'll be interesting to see how Square Enix decides to market Crystal Defenders. It seems very likely this will be a digitally distributed game, but the question remains as to whether it'll be a full-retail digital, or part of the new Minis program.

Given that it'll be competing with its original inspiration on the iPhone, a PSP Mini seems the likely choice. Either way, it's interesting to see more and more big name devs getting behind Sony's rebirth of the handheld console.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
