I-play the most acclaimed iPhone games publisher

Beats EA and Glu convincingly

I-play the most acclaimed iPhone games publisher

Our sister site PocketGamer.biz has just compiled its latest Quality Index covering the second quarter of the year, and an interesting new challenger is sitting atop the iPhone table - I-play.

With an average score of 8.02 for its games, the publisher holds a commanding lead over such giants as EA and Glu, who sit in second and third place respectively. EA managed an average of 7.66 while Glu finished close behind with a score of 7.58.

The score is formulated for publishers that have had at least ten games reviewed in this period by taking an average grade from Pocket Gamer, Pocket Gamer France, IGN Wireless, AirGamer, Mobile Game FAQs, Slide To Play, 148Apps, iPhone Games Network, and Macworld.

I-play only just scraped into contention with ten games reviewed, but that seems to show a remarkable focus on quality over quantity. EA received six times as many reviews, but were hampered by disappointing titles such as Mass Effect Galaxy, which received an average score of 4.50.

The other mobile giant, Gameloft, was down in fifth place with a solid 7.43 - a drop from 8.05 in Q1 - while Chillingo leapt two places to fourth.
