Nokia considering removing IMEI lock from products

N-Gage games could become transferable

iPhone downloads aren't tied to the actual device, so much as the iTunes account that downloaded them, which gives users the benefit of being able to seamlessly transport them to a new (or alternative) device.

N-Gage games are locked to a device's IMEI number, however, and considering how often users change handsets these days that can be a costly problem.

According to NokNok.tv, Nokia is now considering relaxing its restrictions on downloaded content. After considerable user feedback on the subject, it now seems Nokia is investigating ways to adopt Apple's approach to digital download ownership and tie the products to the user account rather than a specific device.

There's no news on how or when any such changes might be made, but N-Gage needs all the help it can get right now to make its service more appealing to an iPhone infatuated market.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
