Vodafone to deliver the Android powered HTC Magic

The G2, to you and me

Vodafone to deliver the Android powered HTC Magic

Our roving reporter from over on PocketGamer.biz, Stu, has been knee-deep in mobile industry news over at the Mobile World Conference 09, and reports are now coming in regarding the second Android powered handset from smartphone guru, HTC.

Codenamed the HTC Magic, this is essentially the G2, though considering it’s being delivered exclusively by Vodafone (rather than T-Mobile, which carries the G1) that name is likely to change.

Regardless of the name, this is an undeniably sleeker model. The slide out QWERTY has been dropped in favour of the Cupcake onscreen keyboard (not dissimilar to the iPhone’s), which many G1 users have been clamouring for. Details are still rather sparse, but we can expect HSPA, wi-fi and GPS as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera.

This announcement comes just as the Android Market is gearing up to begin selling games and applications, so it seems Vodafone has bagged a sweet looking device at just the right time.

More news as it comes in from MWC 09.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
