If you're not up to anything on October 25th and you happen to have a some pistols, a Lara Croft wig and a couple of melons tucked away in the back of your wardrobe, you might be interested to hear there's a cosplay world record attempt happening in London.

The record-breaking attempt will mark the opening day of the London Games Festival taking place at London's ExCel Centre, and it's striving to smash the current record of - a slightly measly - 80 people.

There are guidelines though, so before you humiliate yourself sitting on a train in a cape and a pair of tight black briefs, bear the following in mind.

While characters from media such as films, television, books and comics are acceptable, they must have appeared in a video game before the other media. So Sonic is fine because he was a games character before a comic book one, but Batman isn't because - fascinating fact alert - he first featured as a comic book character in 1939 while he wasn't a video game character until 1986.

If you fancy being part of a world record attempt, you simply need to turn up in your costume for 12.30 on October 25th on the stairs outside the entrance of the ExCel Centre. You probably won't miss it as it'll be a sea of people wearing bad Mario moustaches and spiky blue wigs.

And no, we won't be there.
