Look, we weren't wrong earlier when we said the App Store is launching at 5pm today. That's the official time. But it's actually live now, and accessible from within iTunes.

Props to Engadget for discovering the backdoor way in, which admittedly wasn't that well hidden. However, if you download the just-released iTunes 7.7 from Apple's website, it's a prominent link from the homepage too - so it's kosher.

Games are grouped into five categories: Action/Adventure, Casino/Card, Family/Kids, Racing/Arcade, and Puzzle/Strategy. Here's a sample product page, for Glu's Space Monkey:

You can browse the various applications, and seemingly buy and download them. However, with the iPhone 2.0 software yet to be released, you can't actually transfer them to your iPhone.
