God of War Deep Red PSP bundle coming to US

This June, $199, and it's a bit of an odd one

Sony of America has announced a new bundle is set to hit US stores this June. Themed around God of War: Chains of Olympus, the $199 (£100) God of War Entertainment Pack includes a 'Deep Red' Slim & Lite with a moody Kratos 'silk-screened' on the back, and a copy of the game.

But here's where it gets a little weird. The bundle also comes with a Superbad UMD and a PSN voucher to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops from the PlayStation Store. Not entirely relevant inclusions, are they? (Though we can understand Sony's desire to get players onto Combat Ops. Not to mention the fact it must have a few UMDs lying about the office.)

And that's before we go into the matter of the bundle being available this June when Chains of Olympus is out in March.

Still, mustn't grumble. Except perhaps for the fact that we're unlikely to see the bundle over in Europe – Sony America's last PSP bundles (for Daxter and Star Wars Battlefront) failed to sail across the Atlantic. That said, the Deep Red PSP model was previously only available in Japan, so perhaps it's (slowly) making its way across the main gaming territories.
