DS biggest selling US console of 2007
And PSP outsells PS3
As predicted (by Nintendo itself) at the end of last year, the DS has comfortably outsold all of its console competitors to become the biggest selling of them all for 2007.
US sales data for the entire year is now in and according to market research firm NPD, the DS amassed a massive 8.5 million sales. Nintendo also took second place with the Wii, which sold 6.29 million units.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold 4.62 million consoles, the ageing PS2 still managed to shift 3.97 million and PSP was just below it selling a respectable 3.82 million. PSP in fact outsold PS3, for which 2007 marked the first full year for in shops, selling 2.56 million units.
The biggest selling handheld game during 2007 was Pokémon Diamond on DS, which sold 2.48 million copies to eager, Pokémon ball-toting Americans.
