TGS07: Secret Agent Clank makes surprise PSP appearance
And Ratchet is nowhere to be seen
Sony has made a surprise announcement by revealing Secret Agent Clank for the PSP during its Tokyo Game Show media event.
The game is a spin-off adventure featuring the mechanised sidekick from the Ratchet & Clank series. The narrative appears to revolve around the need to rescue Ratchet and gameplay includes some rhythm-action sections. Oh, and the usual over-the-top weaponry the series is famous for, obviously.
However, don't expect the same level of gunplay. Secret Agent Clank clearly features the core elements that underpin the Ratchet & Clank experience – platform and conflict – but in the case of the latter there now appears to be a bias towards melee combat rather than the typical shooting-based gameplay.
Developer High Impact Games, responsible for the PSP's Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, is behind the title, which is very good news.
The game is set for a summer 2008 release so we've got plenty of time to get more info on this, along with screenshots.
