Best of Games Convention PSP, DS and mobile nominations announced

Games Convention 2007 has kicked off with a press-only day, giving journalists a little time to check out the games, hardware and peripherals publishers from around the globe are hoping will make the headlines, before the general public is let loose on the premises.

But already there are winners. Selected by an 11-member jury of experts, the nominees for this year's Best of GC awards have been revealed.

The awards are open to any game being displayed at GC which has not been released prior to the event. Ten categories feature, although we're only interested in the three you'll find below.

Some of the finalists are obvious, while a few may raise the odd eyebrow – but that's very much in keeping with the nature of these things.

The awards ceremony to find out the eventual winners will take place on August 24th, at which point we'll report back with the results.
