DS Lite in the pink

There's good news for fashionistas and bad tidings for sexual stereotypes this morning, as Nintendo has announced that it too will release its handheld hardware in pink to appeal to the female market.

The new look DS Lite will go on sale in Europe on 27th October (on exactly the same date as PSP's blushing new model), and Nintendo will hope that it reaps the same kind of success it achieved when it sold the original DS in pink and blue as part of a Nintendogs promotion last year.

Of course, the real trend-setters will already be nursing their own salmon-coloured system, having bought an import of the Japanese variation launched back in July.
