UK gamers finally get the chance to recreate the infamous Happy Snaps massacre

One of the most annoying things about being a pocket gamer in the UK is that you'll often hear about amazingly innovative games created elsewhere in the world, and then have to wait years to actually get your hands on them.

For instance, earlier this week we revealed that US and European gamers will at last be able to get their hands on Nom, some three years after its original release in Korea!

Today we've learned that another long-celebrated yet hitherto largely unobtainable game is to slip through immigration this August, in the form of Foto Fighter from Ojom. Described by its creators as an 'augmented reality game', Foto Fighter sees players use their camera phone to take pictures of everyday objects or people, which are then magically transformed into monsters on screen.

And like certain other more celebrated monsters that fit into your pocket (we're assuming the name PhotoMon was already taken), these beasties like nothing better than being trained and then hurled into an arena for a good battle against their peers.

Hopefully the UK rollout will support the original's multiplayer features, enabling foto fighters from across the world to send their snaps into the fray. But even without that, the game promises to be a smart way to show off your camera phone (certainly smarter than trying to send a photo message – have you ever got that to work?)

Suffice to say we'll be zooming in for a closer look in the next couple of weeks. If you'd like to be kept in the picture, use the 'Track It!' button.
