Arrog is an enigmatic and incredibly stylish puzzler that's just made its way onto iOS & Android
From publisher Playdigious
Perhaps best known for its mobile ports of Dead Cells and Cultist Simulator, Playdigious has more recently started publishing original indies such as The Almost Gone and its latest release, the enigmatic Arrog.
Developed by Hermanos Magia and Leap Games Studio, this one tasks you with guiding a man through his dreams in the hopes of helping him to accept his own death. The game boasts a wonderful hand-drawn art style that feels immediately distinct and intriguing.
Its black-and-white world is punctuated by the odd dash of colour, and did I mention that you're accompanied by an oversized capybara on your adventure? Because you are, and that's very neat.
I've been very much looking forward to this one since seeing it very briefly at our Pocket Gamer Connects event in London back in January. It seems set to be fairly divisive, with Campbell from our sister site 148Apps having already published his rather mixed review.
Still, its strange world – inspired by Latin American folklore – has really piqued my interest, and it absolutely seems like the sort of game I can just chill out with.
It's of course a premium release, though you can get it at a 30% discount for its first week of launch. It's currently listed on the App Store for $1.99. If you're an Android player, you can grab it now from over on Google Play.
The Almost Gone didn't disappoint, and Arrog seems to be doing a lot of cool things. I'd recommend checking out the trailer above to get an idea of its tone and style. Playdigious is also running a giveaway where 5 lucky winners can net themselves the game on either iOS or Android.
