There are plenty of one man teams still working on games for the App Store.

One of them is Owens Rodriquez, who has been beavering away on his frantic Alien Space for most of 2010.

As the name suggests, it's a twin-stick shooter that has you zooming around the starry sky in a UFO shaped object, shooting things while trying to avoid being shot by UFOs and other space ships.

Little green men

Designed to run on all types of iPhone and iPod touch, it follows a typical gameplay progression that has you completing 30 levels and upgrading your ship with light and heavy weapons, as well as with systems such as shields and the like. There are also power-ups such as invisibility and energy refreshes to pick up along the way.

There's a Survival mode for messing around in, too, while scores and achievements are handled using the OpenFeint social platform.

Alien Space has been submitted to the App Store and should be out next week. You can check out how it plays in the following video.
