Ace Tennis Online 2010 smashes onto iPhone

Sepp Blatter’s quadrennial gathering of the world’s finest footballers isn’t the only sporting show in town this summer.

Over in south-west London, tennis fans from Scotland, Wales, and Ireland are salivating over the possibility of Andy Murray lifting Wimbledon’s coveted silver cup.

Once that dream is inevitably shattered by a muscular Spaniard, you may want to turn to the App Store for consolation.

Swinging into action to fill that tennis racket-shaped void on iPhone and iPod touch is Ace Tennis 2010 Online from Eurocenter.

The first tennis game on the App Store to show off iPhone 4’s 960x640 Retina display, Ace Tennis 2010 Online was released on the iPad last month.

Boasting HD graphics (unsurprisingly, given the iOS 4 support baked in), two control methods – accelerometer or D-pad - and three different surfaces, Eurocenter’s well-timed half volley of a release aims to cure those Wimbledon withdrawal symptoms.

'Ace Tennis 2010 Online is a real treat for both tennis fans as well as sports game fans,' commented Stéphane Portha, of Eurocenter. 'If you love tennis, you’ll love this game. Ace Tennis 2010 Online is sure to be a standard by which other iPhone and iPad tennis games will be judged.'

But will it, though? You can judge for yourself on the App Store now for $4.99 / £2.99 / €3.99.
