Speedrunning platformer 1000 Heroz released for iPhone
No need to remember their names
Speedrunning through a video game is by no means a new pursuit.
Throughout the years, portable gaming speedrunners have gotten their competitive fix via WipEout, Mirrors Edge, and alike. Now, iPhone speed freaks have another game to hone their muscle memory over - 1000 Heroz.
Part 2D platformer, part frenetic foot racer, 1000 Heroz challenges you to speedrun through a level, avoiding pitfalls and utilising trampolines along your way.
Every day, a new level and new playable character are unlocked, each with its own global leaderboard. And the brightest among you will have already worked out that 1000 Heroz = 1000 levels, meaning that fresh content will be piped to your game for the next three years.
We had a look at developer RedLynx's (responsible for the Silver Award-winning DrawRace) speedrunner in March, citing its oddball physics as a potential sticking point, but noting its polish and features should make it worth a punt.
See if you agree: 1000 Heroz is out now for iPhone for 59p / 99c / €0.79.
